Boutique Landscape Design & Build

Gardens that feel found, not forced.

We design layered, living landscapes rooted in native planting, honest materials, and the quiet rhythm of the seasons — spaces that grow more beautiful every year you live with them.

01 — Services

From first sketch to the tenth spring.

Three ways we work with clients. Most gardens begin with design and stay with us for years of seasonal care.

  1. Illustrated landscape plan on drafting paper with planting beds, a circular garden, and a pencil.

    Garden Design

Site study, concept sketches, and a fully detailed planting and materials plan — shaped around how you actually want to live outdoors.

    • Site & soil analysis
    • Concept & master plan
    • Planting schedules
  2. Illustration of broad stone garden steps climbing a hillside between rounded shrubs and wildflowers.

    Landscape Installation

Our own crew builds every garden we draw: stonework, terraces, water features, and planting placed by hand, one specimen at a time.

    • Hardscape & stonework
    • Planting & lighting
    • Irrigation & drainage
  3. Illustration of pruning shears resting among deep green fern fronds and scattered terracotta autumn leaves.

    Seasonal Stewardship

A gardener who knows your garden by name. Thoughtful pruning, editing, and replanting that lets the design mature as intended.

    • Monthly or quarterly visits
    • Organic soil care
    • Seasonal refresh plans

02 — The Studio

A small studio with deep roots.

Wild Fern began in a converted greenhouse with two designers, a pickup truck, and a conviction that the best gardens look as though they were always meant to be there.

Today we're a team of eleven — designers, horticulturists, and craftspeople — and we still take on only a handful of new gardens each season. That limit is deliberate. It means the person who sketches your plan is the same person on site when the first tree goes in.

“We don’t impose a garden on a place. We listen until the place tells us what it wants to become.”

— Studio philosophy
  • Ecology first

Regionally native plants that feed pollinators and need far less water.

  • Made by hand

Reclaimed timber and local stone, set by our own craftspeople.

  • Built to mature

Designed for year ten, not just opening day.

03 — Selected Work

Recent gardens.

A few favorites from the past few seasons — each one shaped by its site, its soil, and the people who call it home.
